Sacramento County, California is close to the Napa valley region. Many people travel to this area each year to experience the sights and sounds of the quieter side of California. One enchanting area to visit is Fairytale Town. People of all ages will enjoy this unique mystery land. Lose yourself and remember being a child and the innocence of childhood and the belief in story book characters. How about walking tour in the shoe from “The Little Old Lady Who Lived In A shoe.”

If there are no children on your trip, then one might want to experience the Crest Theater. Put the cares of life behind for a night of mystery and drama. Have your dinner while watching a live production and excellent actors bring mysteries to life. While there are many more theaters, Crest is one of the best there is. Laugh, eat, drink and be merry and forget about the job you have to go home to. Sacramento offers a different prospective of California. Outside of the LA area, this side is still hopping but just a big quieter. There are still ample things to do in Northern California to help one put aside life’s cares and have a great time.

If you love to travel, you will enjoy your stay in Sacramento. As the capital of California, this is a place that has many attractions and places you can visit and enjoy. You can take the public transit bus line that goes all around Sacramento county, or simply get a zipcar from a nearby college and take a trip around all of Sacramento county. One of the best teams in the NBA, the Sacramento Kings, play in the Arco Arena and have games regularly throughout the season that you could score tickets to. Downtown Sacramento also has a great club scene, and at the state capitol you can visit the governor by appointment or check out some of the great eateries around the area. Another attraction is the nearby cities near Sacramento like Roseville, a beautiful upscale land with shopping opportunities. The downtown Arden area in Sacramento is great as well as there is affordable housing and fun things to do once a year like the state fair.

The state fair is a huge deal, and you will love the attractions that you come across while here. Hope you also like fireworks, as there is a fireworks display on the nights of the state fair. You can also find great deals at the downtown mall or at the local Goodwill on Arden. There is also a friendly atmosphere around the sacramento area, so enjoy it all.The hits keep comin’: Sacramento Kings: Why Team Needs 2011-12 Season More Than Most

There are a lot of things to love about Sacramento County, from all the tourism spots to the great shopping to a variety of internet providers for new residents. But if you’ve lived or visited here you know one of the main draws is the number of great food options. If you want some good eats, try our favorite local spots:
The Kitchen: This isn’t a budget choice, but if you want a memorable meal along with some ambiance you know you’ve got to head to The Kitchen. It’s contemporary American at its best it’s all about the local sourcing here.
Dad’s: If you’re looking for something more eclectic and unique you have got to go to Dad’s. It’s a great New York style deli with a funky, casual style and it’s totally Sacramento all the way. Dad’s offers a great selection of sandwiches, salads, and soups.
Il Fornaio: Italian is the way to go when you’re in Sacramento and this little spot is the place to stop. They’re all about traditional Italian with a twist. The food is served rustic, family style, and it is a happening night spot to boot!

Sacramento may be overshadowed by such larger cities as San Francisco and Los Angeles, but it is, after all, the capital of California” and it has a fascinating history, too. It began in 1839, when the area was still part of Mexico. That year, a Swiss pioneer named John Augustus Sutter set up a colony along the American River. By pledging loyalty to Mexico, he received 50,000 acres of land, where he set up a fort that served as the western terminal for pioneer wagon trains; it still stands as a reminder of those days.Additional information can be found at http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entries/nic_o/2/1308901237/tpod.html. Sutter’s son and namesake founded Sacramento in 1848, at the beginning of the gold rush following the Mexican War, and named it for a river. The town soon became a center of mining activity. From 1860 to 1861, Pony Express riders followed a route from Sacramento to St. Joseph, Missouri.

Culture in Sacramento is represented by basketry and other Indian handiwork on display at the State Indian Museum, and by the Crocker Art Museum, the oldest in the West. Visitors can also go on steam train rides in the historic district of Old Sacramento and learn about the city’s history at the Sacramento History Museum.

Covering roughly 994 square miles, Sacramento County is located in the middle of the Gold Country, or the California Central Valley. The county is home to California’s capital city, which goes by the same name, Sacramento, and is the perfect place to visit for those people who are looking to vacation in an area aside from the more popular tourist destinations like Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Those traveling to the city can take a direct flight to the Sacramento International Airport, or alternatively drive via Interstates 5 and 80. Once in the city, getting around is painless as the Sacramento Regional Transit bus and light rail service is available, which operates several bus and rail routes that covers a 418 square mile service area.

Visitors to the city will be delighted with all of the things to see and do, including taking a trip to see the Governor’s Mansion or traveling to the Railroad Museum, where train enthusiasts will love the colossal collection of locomotive trains from many years ago. Also, those interested in a bit of a relaxing, and laidback experience, should check out Old Sacramento, the historic district that couples as the city’s waterfront, which is full a variety of shops and restaurants.
